THE BUILDING
288 Water Street offers elegant, understated design that is a harmonious yet distinctive addition to the Vinegar Hill historic district, where streets are predominantly occupied by a mix of colonial-era townhomes and industrial-age warehouses.
Calling on minimalistic aesthetic ideals of balance, grace, simplicity, and relationship to nature, it features a white porcelain façade and climbing gardens that feel contemporary while fitting well with the local texture
The façade is composed as a mosaic of windows framed in white. All are oversized and precisely angled, providing each home with abundant natural light as well as a unique view of either the Brooklyn waterfront or the courtyard. Vertical slats of ipe wood at the ground level bring warmth and a sophisticated touch to the building’s street presence. Inside the lobby, a glass-enclosed Zen Garden creates a focal point of visual tranquility.
